all the things. in one post.

o1) contests, i just don’t know how to quit you. picture me right now doing the beauty pageant hyperventilating hands-on-mouth I CAN’T BELIEVE IT squeal, because i’m in season 9 of project run and play.
image

for those who don’t know (gasp! how?) it’s only my favorite online sewing competition EV-AH. for realsies. 6 “designers”, 4 weeks, fight to the finish. hopefully the cornucopia is full of japanese cutting shears and high end machines, because i require the best. :/
anyway, there’s a theme for each week, and my brain has been churning since i was asked to be a part of the contest a couple months ago. i’ve been counting down the days and now it’s really happening and i’m all pukey-excited. the actual competition doesn’t start until next month, but for me the sewing begins STAT. i haven’t really sewn in a couple of months now, and there’s a LOT of pent up sewing energy stored in me.
i’m also going up against 4 awesome seamstresses. some i already ‘knew’, others i’m just discovering. and i’m feeling there’s a super big chance i’ll be the first one thrown off the island. or shot with an arrow, whatever competition metaphor floats your fancy. but i’m going to try my hardest to have a blast with this no matter what.

let the games begin.

(you thought i was gonna say let the odds be ever in your favor, right? heh.)

o2) we bought a dog. or, another dog i guess i should say. thing is: i am a hardcore believer in rescues. also, i am cheap as all get out and the thought of spending ooh-gobs of money on an animal makes me throw up in my mouth a little. oh, and i like big, BIG dogs.

well here i am with my tail between my legs. i bought a dog, from a pet store, who is AKC registered and i can trace his lineage back 4 generations. and i paid ooh-gobs of money. and he’s 2.5 lbs.

image

but that face. THAT FACE. he’s a chihuahua (in case that’s not glaringly obvious) and his name is Santino Burrito. and if you could trill your ‘r’ that’d be great.
he’s technically for gigi, the child who would gladly give up 3 of her 4 limbs to own a cat. but the googiedaddy is prejudiced against things that poop in the house, and i’m prejudiced against things that make me not able to breath. so we found the most catlike dog we could.

o3) i’m seriously lost when it comes to things like SEO and pageviews and stuff. but once in a while i poke around in google analytics for giggles. here is a list of search terms people use that lead them to googiemomma.blogspot.com.

image

refashioning, sewing, crocheting…all your basics WAIT WHAT?

boobs. on a shelf.

well. i…why? nevermind. i don’t want to know.

o4) the sickies: ava had a foot checkup. insert thumbs up here. doc says all good, no need for casting for a while. picture me doing the dance of joy. yes, like balki.

GIFSoup
i'm so old.

gigi had a blood test which placed her platelets at 770,000. a mere TWO TIMES NORMAL. umm, ok. doc says all good—means her bone marrow has been working like gang busters to catch up, and the immune system has probably stopped killing off platelets so now it’s overcompensating. like peddling a bike really hard up a hill, then you hit the top and start going down but you’re still peddling really hard for a minute until you realize WHOA i made it!
so…a more cautious dance of joy, because she’s still having mild spells of petechiae and occasional bruises that make us go on high alert. nothing warranting a run to the ER, but concerning…

o5) i’m working now. well, i mean like outside of the home. and, not just for the family business. okay—i’m working more. ha. i got a little gig waiting tables at lunch at the local pizza place we frequent. i actually really enjoy it, and i’m making decent money (FABRIC FUNDZZZ.) for doing about 9 hours a week. only problem is i’m finding sewing time a bit harder to come by. and blogging time. oh yeah and cleaning the house time. yesss…that’s why it’s not clean. ;)
but i’ve still got a back log of things i never blogged, and with point #1 on the horizon you can be sure i’m finding sewing/blogging time in the next few weeks! even if i have to cut out something major. like sleep. nah, i need my sleep. sorry kids—it’s pb & j breakfast, lunch and dinner for the next few weeks.

today

+ today’s plans +

swim lessons. we are more than halfway through summer, and i feel like we’re just getting started. the insane heat wave that held the northeast captive in our homes for the last…err..forever (it feels like) has finally ‘broken’ because today it’s going to be only 84 degrees and  feel like only 98 degrees, instead of being 98 and feeling like 132. maybe now we can actually go outside?

IMG_2536

+ today’s crazy +

the video for imagine dragons “radioactive”. whatever sick and twisted mind came up with this: i think i love you. (maybe NSFchildren…they could have nightmares mwahahaha)

loved this song before. love it more now.

+ today’s writing +

a post about my experiences last week at a new doctor. it’s a tough one. i’m going at it in bits + pieces. emotions: i haz dem.

+ today’s soundbite +

IMG_1799

jeremy to gigi: did you call me?
gigi: no. i didn’t. maybe you just heard it in your head. like somebody talking.
j: yeah, maybe that’s what it was.
g: yeah cause sometimes dat happens to me like i hear people talking in my head.
j: o.O

she has voices. in her head. #notsurprised

+ today’s deep thought +

this post about yelling at our children. had me thinking hard. reallllly hard. i admit: i’m a yeller. i come from a long line of yellers. and i battle it every. single. day.

+ today’s recipe +

summertime = cookouts and hamburgers. new goal: never ever ever buy hamburger rolls again. this recipe is insanely fast and easy and you look like the bomb. oh, these delicious rolls? yeah, i just whipped them up.

enjoy your day, loves. googiemomma out.

where i’ve been.

turns out, once you kind of give in to letting the blogging slide…it becomes easier and easier to let the blogging slide.

the weeks have been full—typical end of the school year stuff like art shows and chorus concerts.

image

typical spring outdoor stuff like putting in ponds and ordering 10 tons of rock (eek!)

image

don’t be fooled by the mindtrick that is this picture—ten tons of rock is a LOT of rock.

then of course there’s our other typical spring routine…

image

more casting for our tiny tim. seems like it gets just a little harder each time. this time, for her week in a long leg cast, we broke down and rented a wheelchair. that cast is heavy and by the end of a day on crutches she was in pain—both her leg/foot and arms. but we made it ten days and had her followup yesterday…

image

cast number 38, and YAY for short leg casts you can walk on!!! (the crutches were temporary because her leg is pretty sore for a while after the old cast comes off). this guy will be on for two weeks, then fitted for new braces and casted for about 4 more weeks while we wait for the braces. so she’s going to be casted through the end of the school year and into the beginning of summer. :o( bummer.

i’ve had my own issues, too. some health concerns are necessitating a switch off my current meds and over to new medication. the truth is i haven’t been “right” since elliot was born. my body knew that, and i knew that, but it’s taken me until now to convince the doctors of that. the numbers on the tests are starting to bear out what i’ve been saying for a long time now, so they’re listening. unfortunately that’s the time and place we live in—doctors put more stock in numbers on paper than on what you say about how you’re feeling. but whatever. i’m not holding a grudge. i’m just hopeful that in the next few weeks i’ll have some answers.

BUT ANYWAY…

image

there’s been sewing. lots and lots of sewing, actually. and even some crocheting (gasp! that’s a winter hobby!)

image

all things i’m going to share soon.

also, i’m honored to be a part of this again this year--

sundressseriesbutton

woohoo! coming in june! pretty sure i know what i’m doing…just have to, err…do it. ;0)

you may remember my contribution last year—my maxi dress.

image

why not check out some of the other tutorials from last year HERE? you know, to tide you over until i get my act together and start posting something besides random collections of…randomness entirely illustrated by photos stolen from my instagram feed. hehe.

thursday randoms

move along, move along…nothing to see here…

just a random collection of things…

o1) today’s prayers
prayers and thoughts for those in boston.

i don’t wish to seem glib by leaving it there…but really, what more is there to say?

o2) today’s sewing
my simple shirred sundress tutorial has been making the pinterest rounds lately. i do love that look, and it is quite easy.

image

one person asked if the buttonholes on the back cut the elastic thread and made it unravel.
a good question, and the answer is no, not for me. i’m assuming the tightness of the buttonhole stitching is enough to catch the ends of the elastic thread and keep them secure, even though they run perpendicular to one another (whoa math terms).

IMG_2480_edited-1

o3) today’s sales
another reader asked about the doll bed quilt and pillow i’d made for elliot…if i had plans to put them in my etsy shop.

IMG_4276

i don’t…however, if someone is interested in a straight commission i’d be happy to work with you. email me at talktothemomma (at) gmail (dot) com.

o4) today’s film petits
did you see today’s film petit? oh how i love this series—skirt as top and a little gray join forces once a month with a guest to create children’s looks based on awesome films. not children’s films—just awesome films. this month is BACK TO THE FUTURE. and it’s as awesome as you’d think.

film petit: back to the future

 image via

hey ladies, i’m sure you don’t want to overdo the 80’s, but i’m thinking…pretty in pink????

o5) today’s goodbye
so google reader is becoming a thing of the past in july. sniff, sniff…let’s all take a moment and shed a tear. or not. anyway, i’ve added links to bloglovin’ and another blog reader canopi over thar--------->>> in the sidebar.
because i know you wouldn’t want to miss a hot second of the genius that is googiemomma.

o6) today’s poetry + today’s plans
i went into the wood because i wished to live deliberately. yeah, i’m getting all thoreau up in here. but i had this sudden vision of our family—just the mister and i and our googies, alone in the woods. it was a fairly specific vision—a cabin, air, space, no neighbors, no electronics and lots of frog hunting, game playing and marshmallow burning. so i turned to the internets and found my cabin.

image

image via

it’s tiny and secluded and that creek looks ripe with frogs for hunting, does it not? we don’t have a date nailed down just yet, but i’ve been in contact with the owner and the googies will be headed there. soon. and we’ll live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan- like as to put to rout all that was not life. sounds good, right?

o7) today’s mush
monday was april 15th. a big day for taxes, yes. but also a big day in the googiehaus. eleven years ago that was my due date with the little man (he came on the 12th like a good boy). and 15 years ago it was the day mr. googiedaddy took me to a scenic bridge while our friends hid in the woods and asked me to marry him. spoiler alert: i said yes.
like any oblivious momma i totally lost track of the days, so when i came out of gigi’s ballet class on monday to find flowers and a card on my windshield, my first thought was uh-oh, someone mistook my car for someone else’s. but it wasn’t. it was him, remembering what i had forgotten, planning and in cahoots with our kids and a friend to leave behind the regular plans for the day—cleaning, organizing, scrubbing—and return to the bridge.

image

it’s since been rebuilt—the rusty, rickety thing of our past a shiny new concrete thing. but it was our bridge all the same. and he kept the tradition alive…

imagehe liked it, so he put a ring on it.

something to stand in place of the ring i haven’t been able to wear for…oh..2 or 3 babies. something not too expensive, but shiny and blingy and a link to him. a way to say “i’m taken!”…not because i get hit on lots and lots (ha!) but because i am, and i love that i am, and i want the world to know i am.

i didn’t realize just how much i missed having a wedding ring on my finger until this one was on there.

he’s a good man. and methinks we should visit that bridge more often.

enjoy your thursday.

random thoughts + a discount code

happy monday, peeps. i’ll be back later in the week with some new projects. in the meantime...

o1) thanks for all the love on my whale stuffie pattern! i was happy so many people commented to tell me they were going to make one.

question though: how do we feel about me putting some up for sale in ye olde etsy shop? (which is quite bare at the moment ::cheesy grin::)

o2) e-shakti is offering googiemomma readers a 20% DISCOUNT when you shop online! pick yourself up something pretty, and think of that 20% as a gift from me to you ;)

you can read my e-shakti review here, and check out their new spring line here.

some of the pretties i’m currently crushing on:

imageimage

retro style zigzag print dress          tux front poplin a-line dress

image

image

vintage denim chambray dress             make a beeline poplin dress

image

image

tiny heart print crepe dress          nautical crepe print maxi dress

simply use code GGEMMM at checkout for your 20% discount, valid now through 3/20/13—so get shopping!

o3) we are weaning. by ‘we’, obviously i mean elliot and i. well, mainly elliot, since i’m fairly certain i was weaned 31+ years ago.
it’s very bittersweet and i’m not gonna lie there were tears—from both of us (actually more from me) but it’s time to be done—wait, my merit badge just came in the mail, let me quick sew print it out and hot glue it on…

image

OOH! and i got the golden badge too!

image

that’s for holding Breastfeeding Mother Status totaling 95 months or more! wow. i almost want to push it another five months to get my platinum badge.

sheesh. i’ve spent just shy of 8 years of my life nursing someone.

seriously though…it’s very, very hard knowing this is it. she’s our last (yes, she IS.) and this is my last trip down this road. it feels like we’re closing the door on the chapter of our life entitled “Babies”. and while i’m excited about all the adventures in the coming chapters…i really like having babies around.

so, you know…fair warning that i’m feeling rather sappy these days. and that might pour out a touch in this here blog.

o4) also, tossing around an idea for a blog series in may. more deets to come.

xoxo,
googiemomma out.

welcome to monday, with a side of my brain.

i’ve never really hated mondays.

in fact i kind of look forward to them. no, it’s not because jeremy goes back to work and some of the kids go to school. why ever would you think that?

i guess i have enough type-A personality traits to enjoy the schedule that weekdays brings. even if my weekday “schedule” is totally unwritten and 100% flexible.
whatev.

although it seems like i can’t get my stuff together enough on weekends to prepare monday morning’s blog post. leading to a kind of random monday pensivity (yeah, it’s a word) that inspires flowy stream-of-consciousness type posts. like this one.

ready?

so i’ve been thinking a lot lately about two separate, yet related things. first i read somewhere (i’m thinking maybe the girls at simple simon mentioned it?) about a book called “the handmade home”. i don’t necessarily want to read the book, but the phrase stuck with me.

A Handmade Home.

yes.

this is what i want. obviously this house literally is handmade—in our 10 years here we’ve managed to rip down, redo and touch virtually every surface with mostly our own two four hands. but it’s the inside i’m concerned with. the food we eat, the clothes we wear, the blankets we snuggle under.

it’s sort of indefinable—this “handmade home” i’m after. because it’s not that i want every. single. thing. we use and/or have to be handmade. that’s simply not practical, nor is it even something i’m interested in. but i want select important things to fall into that category.

i want warmth, love, sunshine, flowy curtains, quilts, handmade clothing, fresh bread. i want candles and laughter. i want peace and books and fluffy blankets for snuggly times. i want baskets and red wine and family and friends stopping by. and preferably a soundtrack consisting of 25% frank sinatra, 25% beethoven, 25% 70’s and 80’s rock, and 25% current good music we can all dance in the kitchen to.
cause everyday we’re shufflin’.

is there a way to create that pandora station? and have it intuitively know which one to play based on the current mood?

i mentioned back when i made elliot’s quilt that i wanted handmade blankets for the entire house. and that hasn’t changed. i’m hard at work on a crochet blanket for the family room. i’ve grown to hate the mish-mash of blankets thrown into the corner we use when we’re in there. in my mind’s eye i see 2 or 3 soft and worn quilts folded neatly into a large woven basket.

maybe i’ll take up basket weaving, too.

it’s become sort of the apex or sticking point in my desire to have what i imagine to be the “Handmade Home”. until i have that basket of blankets i will not rest. each additional row i complete on my crochet blanket brings me that much closer.

and clothing fits into this indefinable desire, too. i’ve found that--while it’s fun when i work hard on matching outfits for the herd and they have a special place or day to wear what i’ve done—it’s somehow just as enjoyable to me to see the things i’ve made them simply pulled from the closet in normal rotation.

does that make sense?

that the simple fact of it being no big deal to put on a dress mommy made is flattering to me. it’s just an accepted fact of life to them. oh, this dress? yeah, my mom made it.
we had friends sleeping over not that long ago—2 extra girlies, each who needed a dress to wear on sunday morning. and when they all came out of the room dressed to the 9’s, 5 of the 6 girls in our care that day were wearing garments i’d made. not because i’d made them or told them to wear that particular dress, but because they’d scanned the closet, surveyed the options, and chose that one.

and i loved that.

so on that note, maybe i can get myself motivated to finish up tomorrow’s post. which, surprise! is about a dress. for my littlest monkey.

IMG_2914

and then there’s brain worm #2. something i read at another blog, which i again can’t remember, that stuck with me.
she said if you think about it you get 18 summers with your children. that’s it. and she was on a quest to make sure each one was fun and special.

it really struck me, you know. because—let’s be real here, you’re not getting 18 summers with your kids. by 15 and 16 they probably have their own plans and summer jobs keeping them busy 90% of the time. so what is it? 13? 14?

and follow that out—14 winters. 14 springs. 14 falls. that you truly, truly have them in your hands. it goes so, soo fast. crazy fast.

IMG_2973

IMG_2972

i have a 12 year old. so by that logic i have 2 or 3 good summers left with her.

IMG_2740_edited-1(and if she’s anything like her mother by 18 she’ll be hearing wedding bells!)

have i done what i need to do? have i taught what i need to teach? time is so short.
this isn’t anything new or revolutionary. obviously we know how much time we have to teach our children.

IMG_2747_edited-1

but it’s not always the deep and profound that’s necessary. sometimes all you need it a simple statement of fact.

another summer has passed. it is now done. it was my 12th, 10th, 8th, 3rd, and 2nd summer with each of my children, respectively.
was it what i wanted?
did i do it well?
did we make memories?
what did they learn?

IMG_2619IMG_2620she learned which is the business end of the watermelon. check that off the list.

it helps. it helps me stop and think: the clock is ticking. do i want my children’s memories of this day, and in turn this week, and in turn this season—to be of what is happening right now?

IMG_2733_edited-2i’m not entirely sure we’re getting through to this one. even with 30 summers.

are the words i’m using the words i want to hear mirrored back to me?
am i helping my son become a good man?
my daughters good women?

IMG_0767

IMG_0768

intensely learning to make embroidery floss friendship bracelets. a very important life skill.

now is the time to think about it. because now so soon becomes then and it’s all over.

enjoy your monday.

oh look, another gif.

are you annoyed by these yet?
yes i admit i may be a little obsessed. but they're cool. and fun to make.

and when i realized i had this series of photos from field day in may...well--come on. they're just perfect, right?

that's miss ava in the center, playing with the GIANT PARACHUTE, which i'm sure we can all agree was The Best Thing Ever in gym.
consider this my way of getting us all excited about BACK TO SCHOOL!

also, my apologies to the unfortunate teacher who's err...bottom is so well-captured in these photos. although, considering she had just given birth to her third baby like 2 months prior--props, girlfriend.

enjoy your weekend! and let me know--which was your favorite? the GIANT PARACHUTE? or are you some kind of weirdo who enjoyed crab-walking? ooh! or whenever you had to wear those colored pinafores made of nylon mesh to show different teams! sooo flattering!

tuesday randoms

it's a touch early in the week for a random things post, but i felt the need.

o1) well we'll begin with the obvious: do you like the new look? i'd been toying with the idea of switching to a 2 column layout for a while--i like the more simple feel. but i couldn't justify the ton (read: hours) of work it would take to make the changes. then last night i came on the blog too...well, actually, i can't even remember what tiny thing i came on to do. fast forward 2.5 hours later and here we are. my blog is an extension of my personal space--and believe me when i say that the googiedaddy comes home many a day to a completely redesigned living space. change is good.
i do have a few more more tricks up my sleeves--namely doing something to make my header fill the space a little more nicely. but that will wait.

which brings us to...
o1a) all my fancy new icons on the right sidebar there? all tidied up and in one convenient spot: links to lil ole me on pinterest, instagram, twitter, my rss feed, and to drop me an email
another thing i'd been putting off figuring out and putting into use for a while. but it's done, and i love them, and i may have done a little happyhappyjoyjoy dance and patted myself on the back for being The Best HTMLer Ever I Know. (for which there's not much competition, but i'm okay with that. i don't have a good history of winning in competitions with, you know, other competitors (side eye: SYTYC, sewvivor, project run and play reader submissions, etc....) )
so don't be fooled--i basically go at it on a wing and a prayer, googling what i can't figure out or what i want to change. some say "if there's a will, there's a way", i say "if i can google it, i can do it". which is similar, but has 3 less letters. so it's that much easier to embroider on a throw pillow.
01a subtopic 1) in case you're curious, or feel the need to go poking around in your own blog's HTML all crazy like you're hopped up on $'s and pix and margin widths and you just don't care, and also because i want to thank them, here's where i got stuff:
carrie loves for the media iconsthe cutest block on the block for some tips on customizations
j.s. blogstop for some tips and tricks for customizations

o2) as you may have guessed, my alice in wonderland dress did not win the reader's submission sew-along at project run and play last week. i had high hopes for that one. :( i still love the two izz's who run it though. this week's challenge is "signature look" which gets me all in a tizzy. i HAVE NO IDEA what my signature look is/would be. the best i can come up with is something poofy?

o3) EYES. yes, EYES. apparently we are becoming the family with EYE TROUBLES. at some point last week little miss e poked herself with something in the eye and got a big nasty blood spot. gross, but i was assured it was NBD by the doc. except i guess it got infected a bit and now she has pink eye. and a cold. so there's great green gobs of grossness coming from her eyes, and her nose, and well, that's it. but that's sufficient.
and i'm such a good momma that i couldn't let her suffer alone. plus, if you pretty much say the words "pink eye" to me i'll get it. so between us we have 4 pink eyes, and that makes me think of the dr. suess book (wink eye, wink eye, pink eye, pink eye)

yuck.

o4) june is officially Summer Sundress Month at melly sews!

30 days of sundress tutorials! and guess who's snagged day #21???

so let's dish: what would YOU like to see? i have some ideas i'm tossing around, but is there anything sundress-tutorial-related i could potentially help you out with???

o4a) june 21st also happens to be my parent's 37th anniversary! any ideas on what i should get them? (besides a rockin' sundress tute, obvs)

o5) if you follow me on instagram you may have seen this:

that's rosie, our roomba, doin' her thaaang. we read the reviews--they said things like "life-changing", "loved it so much i bought one for my parents", and "why don't more people have one of these?". we debated. we took the plunge.

i am here to tell you: this little lady is LIFE. CHANGING. daily we ask ourselves--why don't more people have one of these? (unfortunately, despite o4a, i will not "love it so much i buy one for my parents." sorry.)
for real though--keep your dysons and your hoovers and your whatever. i push "clean", she does her thing, goes home when she's done and/or tired, and my floors have never looked better.

roomba. get one.

you know, or don't. whatev. it's your floor.

o6) also on instagram you would have seen this:

which doesn't really mean anything. it just proves that 3 year olds and unguarded makeup bags don't mix. also, that i live with a weirdo. there's crazy in them eyes.

and it seems as good a way as any to end this post. ;)

disconnected ramblings of an overtired mother

which, come to think of it, should probably just be my blog name.

but miss elliot has a cold, and spent the night with a fever and hacking cough. the only cure for hacking cough in a 9 month old?
sleeping upright on mommy’s chest on the couch, with milky on demand.

so yeah, a little tired here. and the only post i have close to finished is my friday random things. so now you get it on thursday instead.

ready?

o1) true story: my brother wants to re-do their bedroom. so he’s telling my sis-in-law about the dressers he saw on ikeahackers. how they took 3 malm dressers and put them together and added knobs. super cool.
yes, that is what they did, she agrees.

halfway through the convo she finally realizes what he’s not realizing…
”you do know where those dressers are, right?”

“no.”

“umm, your sister’s house. that’s the girls’ room.”

we’re so close, my bro and i.

o1a) oh yeah, and the girls’ room dressers were on ikea hackers. and i kinda didn’t realize what a big site that was when i submitted the dressers. until it got posted and i got about 4 gazillion hits on that post, propelling it to the most viewed post on googiemomma—by FAR.

o2) speaking of my sis-in-law…she won’t get on board the pinterest thing. i keep telling her. you know what she does? she favorites things i’ve pinned.

uh…hello, 2010 called. they want their TOTALLY INEFFICIENT WAY OF REMEMBERING ALL THE AWESOMENICITY YOU FIND ON THE INTERNETS back.

(and only fellow pinners can truly, truly see the humor in this.)

okay kate. time to get on board. i’ve just outed you.

o3) i can’t stop buying peeps. partly because i love them. but mainly because gigi calls them “beefs”. just mull that over for a minute.

dare ya not to laugh.

beefs.

o4) this i’m really super duper excited about: there were 188 entries for the sewvivor sewing competition. a lot of insanely awesome stuff. and only 10 competitors make it through into the actual competition.

guess what???

i made the cut!!! so starting in april there are 4 rounds of competition. each week has a “theme”, and you only get ONE DAY to vote. EEK! three contestants get knocked out each week, and the top three get INSANE prizes. mmmm…fabric…

so you’re all gonna vote for me, right? even if i totally choke and make something crazy bad? becauuusseee…

o4a) i maaay have overextended myself just a teensy weensy bit. i’m doing sewvivor, i’m doing a cool series here probably at the end of this month, and i’ve agreed to 2 other upcoming guest posts. and when i feel overwhelmed…well, the brain. she shuts down.

i’m giving ‘er all she’s got cap’in! she’s got no more ta give!

i’m totally, completely 100% uninspired and scatterbrained. i’ve been pinning things left and right on a new board titled, oddly enough, “inspiration” but then i get all distracted pinning pithy sayings and insane recipes and before i know it i’ve totally forgotten what i was doing.

but then again…that might just be how everyone ‘does’ pinterest.

o5) found a new fabric store yesterday. actually, i really just finally got around to going to a fabric store i’ve heard about a million times before but never went to. it’s so much easier to just head to joann’s when i need something. actually…i think my car may just automatically head there whenever i get in.

but there i’d be wandering the aisles thinking to myself “there has GOT to be something better.” and by better, i of course mean “cheaper”. because even with those 40% off coupons things still get pricey.

i think it was so much fun it warrants it’s own post. so i’ll have to go back and sneak some stealthy oh i’m just holding my phone like this to see it better pictures for ya.

okay, that’s it. five seems like she’s ready for a nap…and imma let her do that.

AND she was featured on project runway all-stars.

that’s it. NEW GOAL FOR GOOGIEMOMMA 2012:

embrace miss piggy as a fashion icon.

(i’m fairly certain we have the same body type)

okay, that was a long #1. onwards…

o2) i REALLY REALLY REALLY want to do this:

except with a pair of heels. (some youtube tutes here and here)

okay, i have to do it RIGHT NOW.

o3) our girls’ room project was featured at the DIY showoff and at Miss Priss’ pinterest partayyy last week. woot woot!

thanks so much gals!

o4) last week we were out  doing the food shopping and elliot peed through her diaper onto her outfit. of course i had no other clean outfit with me, we were 1/2 hour from home, and had at least 2 more stops to make. i told jeremy to drop me at the marshall’s and i’d run in and just grab a cheap outfit for her real quick.

i came out 15 minutes later with a outfit…and another outfit, and 2 pairs of shoes, and a pair of boots, and a pair of jeans for girlfriend girl, and a throw pillow.

three bags.

it was really hard to hide that throw pillow behind my back.

true story.

o5) enjoy your weekend! i’ll be airing out my house today—i don’t care if it is january—these windows need to be opened and the wind needs to blow this stomach virus OUT OF HERE.
