it is a truth universally acknowledged, that a mother in possession of a single son and four daughters must be in want of things to sew for the boy.
truly—this is not because of any lack of love for The Boy, or some lesser status of The Boy.
but let’s face it—girls’ stuff is, well, cuter. and—here’s the biggie (at least for me)—way, waaayyy easier.
i can whip out 20 dresses in the time it takes me to make one suit. but i try, i do. and when i made the girls’ four houndstooth dresses i coordinated my boy too.
one navy and white houndstooth bowtie.
for one crazy, crazy boy.
and as i mentioned in that post, when it was photo taking time he “couldn’t find” his bowtie. or suit. or sweater.
mmmhmm.
found it now, didn’t we? took pictures later, didn’t we? turned into yoda, didn’t we?
but it’s all good. i’ll just exercise my matchless photoshop skillllzzzzz…
(cracks knuckles)
whaddaya mean it don’t look natural???
harrison in a bowtie photobomb. coming soon to an internet meme near you.
so there you have it—pride in my son, and his handsome houndstooth bowtie, and no prejudice against sewing for him.
so…does that make me lizzy? or mr. darcy?
awesome photoshop skills lol mine would be less, um, subtle. and it would take me 17 hours ;)
ReplyDeletei hear you on the boys clothing issue. i noticed my sewing slowed down considerably once the boys arrived. but then, maybe, that's because i was taking care of *boys*.. whole other story!
great bowtie!
I actually did one first that took some time. I pastted him in behind ava next to Guinevere. And it didn't look too bad. And then I lost it somehow.
DeleteTry #2 I went the easy route.
That Boy is going to be an actor someday. With someone to keep track of his —um— wardrobe, so he never loses his matchless houndstooth bow-tie again. Hmm. I first typed boy-tie. That's a good name for it, too. Thanks for the laughs!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah...he keeps us in stitches. Despite the extremely uneven boy to girls ratio here it certainly doesn't feel like it! He pretty much equals 5 boys.
DeleteThanks!
I adore this! Loving the matching houndstooth.
ReplyDeleteThanks sourkraut. I'm kind of a houndstooth junkie. I keep dreaming about the grey & white version they have...
DeleteHehe photobomb. I love it! Of course he found it afterward. Didn't we all know he would hehe. It's a great bow tie and I of course like the argyle sweater too.
ReplyDeleteI love argyle almost as much as I love houndstooth. Hmmm ...something I should explore more I think.
DeleteI have three girls and one boy and in his 10 years of living I have made him one wearable item.
ReplyDeleteglad to know I'm not alone!
